Ben Unaegbunam is a Partner at Dentons ACAS-Law’s Lagos office, where he specializes in Corporate and Commercial law. With extensive experience in infrastructure transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and property law, Ben is a highly regarded legal professional with a diverse range of expertise.

His key focus areas include taxation, employment, fintech, and security issues related to project and infrastructure finance transactions. Ben has provided invaluable advice to numerous clients on tax matters and has offered legal opinions on various company law issues.

In addition to his involvement in the Federal Government of Nigeria’s privatisation drive, Ben has a strong background in advising on infrastructure projects. He guides clients through obtaining all necessary consents and permits while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

  • Advised the management of Interswitch Management on VISA’s acquisition of a 20% stake in Interswitch for US$200 million.
  • Provided counsel to the Public Investment Corporation of South Africa (PIC) on its US$250 million equity investment in Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI), including extensive due diligence on Ecobank Nigeria Plc and Oceanic Bank Plc.
  • Played a significant role in the successful privatization bid and US$2 billion concessioning of the container terminal at Apapa Port, Nigeria, for AP Moller-Maersk, a leading international shipping and terminal operating company.
